Philippe Langdon furniture was offered by many fine retailers and designers throughout the US. Unfortunately, this company is another victim due to the economic downturn and has gone out of business like many other high-end, American furniture makers, including Drexel, Maitland Smith, Hickory Chair, etc. This piece was originally between $6-$7k and is now a very hard item to find available. If this bookcase were available new today, it would be around $10k from the manufacture.

Where is the light switch located?

Oddly enough, I received this question twice today.
The bookcase has a touch switch on the far left on the first shelf above the cabinet doors.
If your switch doesn't work, check the wires to make sure they are correct. If it still doesn't work, check the bulbs.
I’m looking at the Philippe Langdon St James bookcase, and wondering if you know the weight of each of the five pieces that it ships in. Particularly, I’m trying to determine whether it would be feasible to get the 11ft cabinet base up to a third story in my home. The length is a challenge, but the weight of that base might be the determining factor.

I estimate the whole unit to weigh around 600lbs.

The unit is currently assembled and the weight of each unit is unknown.

-There are 5 main parts to the unit.

1 crown molding top is all one piece and does not dismantle.

3 separate bookcases.

1 bottom molding base is all one piece and does not dismantle.

1 ladder, 12 shelves, 3 bars, 4 brackets, and many bolts.
